This is the blog of the second semester 2005 class for Media Theory @ Swinburne TAFE. This subject introduces students to theories of the design of different new media arts types. Through an analysis of arts projects and theories on their construction and reception, students will gain an understanding of the narrative (storytelling) and ludic (game) conventions developed for digital and hybrid media. The exposure to a variety of conventions will assist in the design of digital artworks.
We looked at some sound art sites in class that obviously made sound a major if not the major aspect of the work. Some sites use sound but are not trying to be or are not categorised as sound art. Find a site that does, in your opinion, use sound well and explain how. Is it or isn't it sound art? Why?
